Social Interaction and Bonding

April 13, 2018

Social Interaction at The View StudioSocial interaction and bonding, whether with peers in the same group, team or class, or with a partner or a child, all have been shown to be beneficial for your health. Emotions such as affection and trust characterise bonding.

Group fitness classes bring a social element to exercising which helps with motivation and commitment. The bonds that you build with instructors and other members should grow stronger over time.

The maternal bond of a mother and infant is one of the strongest bonds. This bonding initiates during the pregnancy and then after the birth there is an instant spurge of hormones that increases caregiving behaviour.

Most countries have now recognised the importance of time in building bonds with infants and maternity and paternity leave has been increased. Those that partake in making time to form those bonds will also see an increase in health benefit. Mental health is significantly affected by whether that person has strong bonds and whether they were strong as an infant.

A full term baby is programmed to instantly start building bonding relationships. Their crying, smiling, seeking eye contact, breast hunting and many of the other noises and actions are all part of that program, which can be reassuring especially when they cry in the middle of the night. Responding to infants needs builds bonds that are built on attachment and trust.

Mum & baby barre at The View StudioHere at ‘The View studio’ we believe the bonding process is important for every member in the form of relationships with other members, instructors and with parent’s and their babies. Hence, our new class Mum & Baby Barre. This postnatal class is designed to embrace the ballerina within each mother whilst building a bond with baby in a sling. A blend of Pilates and ballet moves that has been adapted for postnatal mums will help to improve posture especially rounding of shoulders from lifting babies. Core strength with the standing elements will help to protect the spine, helping to reduce back pain. There is also a strong focus on fixing the pelvic floor dysfunction via a full body approach so that you can build bonds whilst bouncing jumping on a trampoline with your little one.

Make sure that you diarise Father’s Day – June the 17th – 10.30-11.30a.m. for this event.

We cherish the bonds we have with all of our clients and staff and would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for making ‘The View’ studio such an amazing place.
