Top Tips for a successful lunch workout

March 31, 2016

Spring is here! Fourteen weeks worth of 2016 have breezed past. Where are you at with your fitness goals?

Why not kickstart your Spring fitness and include an extra class to make your goals a reality? Now that we offer midday classes Monday through Friday, there are more opportunities if your schedule offers you flexibility at lunch.

We appreciate that life is busy and for many people, breaking a sweat at lunch is unrealistic, perhaps even undesirable. But the classes on offer at lunch time are not full-throttle aerobic exercise. They are more geared for strengthening your core, increasing your flexibility, lengthening your muscles and improving your posture. You should not be a sweaty mess at the end of the class but you’ll certainly enjoy a healthy dose of endorphins and your body will thank you. You’ll also enjoy the satisfaction of knowing you are making health and wellness a priority. Plus, a midday class helps to break up your day and spike productivity.

Capitalizing on a lunchtime class requires a bit of skillful planning. It’s not rocket science but there are things to consider. Here are some tips to help smooth out the operation, making it easier to get the most out of your workout.

  1. Strategize  when you shop for workout apparel. Top quality pieces wick away perspiration and keep you comfortable. Specifically, we recommend investing in a good pair of basic leggings. They’re a simple solution that will perform at class and double nicely under dresses and tunics. Basic vests perform beneath cardigans and a few accessories will fool people into thinking you’re not dressed for the studio.

Some of our favourite sites to shop from are lululemon , and  Sweaty Betty.

Tescos have a great fitness wear range ‘F & F Active’  which you can get in larger stores and also buy online.

London’s also got a new shop in Chelsea called The Sports Edit. They curate the best of the best from around the world and you can shop their collection online from the comfort of St Andrews.

2. Stock  – a variety of healthy on-the-go snacks at the office. Grab something nutritious an hour before class and refuel on your commute back to work.

An overnight bircher muesli is another great choice and you can grab it as your run out the door. Check out our other recipes on the blog, and on our social media channels.

3. Pack  – a stash of mini toiletries in your gym bag to help freshen up. A few baby wipes, some blotting papers, deodorant and dry shampoo go a long way. And if you forget or cannot carry a large bag to the studio, we’ve now got a variety of products that are yours for the taking. You’re a guest and you deserve some perks. A basket of toiletries is now stored in the disabled toilet, the door immediately on your left has you head out from the waiting area.
